Jimmy Chin’s morning ritual—how this extreme athlete and adventurer starts his day

Whether scaling the World Trade Center or climbing the Grand Teton, elite athlete, respected filmmaker and professional photographer Jimmy Chin begins every day with a solid routine.

As a 15-year veteran of the North Face Athlete Team, frequent National Geographic contributor and documentary filmmaker, Jimmy’s days are packed with travel, adventure and more than his fair share of risk. He has filmed many of the world's best climbers, snowboarders and skiers on their most challenging expeditions around the world, including his own with the award-winning documentary Meru, which took him seven years to complete. He has climbed Everest twice and was one of the first Americans alongside Kit and Rob DesLauriers to ski from its summit. More recently, Jimmy Chin's National Geographic documentary film FREE SOLO is taking over as an edge-of-your seat thriller and an inspiring portrait of professional rock climber, Alex Honnold, worldwide which earned him an Oscar.  

We love the fact that Jimmy takes HANAH ONE every day as part of his morning ritual and that he sees the benefits while out on his adventures around the world. We caught up with him this winter in his home and are excited to share a glimpse into his morning ritual.  



Recipe: Jimmy’s Morning Smoothie


½ cup organic blueberries
½ cup vanilla almond milk
¼ cup yogurt
1 banana
1 leaf/stem kale
1 heaping tablespoon HANAH ONE
1 teaspoon Ashwagandha


Blend and serve!
