Rituals is an exclusive HANAH video series that explores the routines of some of the world’s most inspiring athletes, adventurers and entrepreneurs. In an effort to inspire, motivate and share ideas, they have graciously given us a peek into their own rituals. We hope you enjoy this very personal series.

For HANAH’s next episode of our Rituals series, we headed to Salt Lake City, Utah, to visit big mountain snowboarder Forrest Shearer and check out his routine before a day on the mountain. A Southern California native who grew up surfing and skateboarding in Dana Point, Forrest is at the forefront of self-powered backcountry freeriding. He believes the turns you earn offer a far more lasting reward. Forrest is also a passionate advocate for the environment as he sees the impacts of climate change first hand while traveling the globe. He works with organizations like Protect Our Winters and The Wilderness Society to educate people and inspire them to take action.

Due to the rapidly changing snow seasons and effects of climate change, backcountry excursions aren’t always an option. Fortunately Forrest’s home mountain resort of Brighton is a welcome choice for a fun day with friends. Check out his Rituals video for a glimpse into Forrest’s life.

Forrest's morning smoothie bowl 


  • 16 ounces almond milk (preferably homemade!) or coconut milk beverage (non-dairy)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 avocado
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 Sambazon pure unsweetened superfruit pack
  • 1 tablespoon HANAH ONE
  • 1 teaspoon hemp hearts
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

Optional toppings

  • Coconut slivers
  • Banana slices
  • Additional berries
  • Granola
  • Almond butter
  • Bee Pollen


  1. Place all ingredients in blender.
  2. Blend.
  3. Pour into bowl and add any or all of the optional toppings.
  4. Enjoy!
