HANAH ONE

How many servings are in a jar of HANAH ONE?

There are 24 servings of HANAH ONE per jar.

Does HANAH ONE contain caffeine?

No, HANAH ONE does not contain caffeine. The natural focus, clarity, and overall well-being you experience while consuming HANAH ONE is simply your body performing at its balanced, optimal state.

Do I need to keep my HANAH ONE refrigerated?

No, we recommend not refrigerating your jar of HANAH ONE. In fact, HANAH ONE is best kept at a natural room temperature, as it allows for easier digestion and absorption by your body.

Why does the consistency of HANAH ONE seem different this month?

HANAH ONE is an artisanal product made from seasonally sourced wild-harvested ingredients, so every batch is a little different. Factors such as the time of harvest, weather, soil, and climate can affect the consistency and taste of each batch. The result is an ever evolving traditional Ayurvedic supplement. The efficacy of the product is consistent no matter the season, as the selection of herbs and the formula are based on thousands of years of traditional knowledge and experience. Since we use no preservatives, the viscosity may also evolve over time and naturally thicken.

Why isn’t HANAH ONE organic?

Registering for official organic status is planned. Our herbs grow wild and are hand-harvested. Our Ayurvedic ghee is from free–range cows that graze the mineral rich lands of Kerala, India.

Is HANAH ONE gluten free?

Yes, HANAH ONE is completely free of gluten, wheat, lactose, and soy ingredients.

What is the shelf life of HANAH ONE?

We recommend 18 months as a maximum time for HANAH ONE to sit on your shelves. Over time you will notice that the honey crystallizes, causing the product to thicken, but this does not impact the efficacy nor quality of the product.

Is the ghee hormone and gmo-free?

Yes. The villages of India still rear cows which are brought up in rustic surrounding with local feeds like grass, straw, coconut oil cakes, rice water, and rice soup.

What is the difference between Ayurvedic ghee and clarified butter?

Clarified butter is obtained by separating the cream from milk and by heating it. Ayurvedic ghee is made from fermented butter churned out of yogurt or curd. This ghee is particularly digestible and highly helpful to the brain. Ayurveda teaches that ghee brings vitality and satwik to the body and mind. Ghee has the quality of mrdu, or softness, and is said to be a food of immortality because it lends overall strength and luster to the body. Ghee also helps with the toxicity of over thinking. Ayurveda teaches that those that use their brains for future planning too often feel a certain kind of stress that ghee can help to calm. The ghee also helps with the absorption of the botanicals.

Is HANAH ONE useful for sports and hiking? I’ve heard endurance athletes are experiencing increased cardiovascular function and energy.

In short, HANAH ONE is the perfect hiking and endurance supplement. HANAH ONE is a rasayana. Rasayana is a Sanskrit word with the literal meaning of ‘path of essence.’ A rasayana is a tonic of immortality created to bring balance and vitality to the body and mind and is said to be helpful in cell repair, rejuvenation, glandular and enzymatic activities, and maintaining body metabolism. Among the ingredients in HANAH ONE that Ayurveda considers especially important to aerobic activity are gooseberry (thought to improve blood health) and termanlia bellerica (said to be useful in rejuvenation, the reduction of breathing distress, and improvement of digestion). Ayurvedic doctors use HANAH ONE for people with reduced immunity, fatigue, lack of appetite, and constipation (due to limited food intake) - all common health problems during trekking, therefore HANAH ONE is an excellent supplement to take while hiking. Sesame oil and ghee provide necessary fat (a combination of vegetable and animal fat which is excellent for stamina). According to Ayurveda, ghee and sesame oil improve mental clarity and brain function while hiking. Wild honey, raw sugar cane, and fruit sugars provide a much-needed boost for trekking. HANAH ONE is highly digestible energy and vitality, perfect for anyone seeking optimal health.

How much sugar is in a serving of HANAH ONE? Isn’t sugar bad for you?

Two teaspoons of HANAH ONE contain 6g of natural sugars. These all natural sugars come from wildcrafted honey and pure raw sugar cane. HANAH uses no refined sugars, ever. To give you some reference, a medium peach has 13g of natural sugar, a medium apple has 19g. In Ayurvedic medicine, natural sugars are necessary to the body. Along with the honey, ghee, and sesame oil in HANAH ONE, raw unprocessed sugar serves as a catalytic agent to carry the 30 herbs deep into body tissues and the brain. Ayurveda also teaches that there are six tastes that should be eaten at all meals. Sweet tastes nourish and invigorate the mind, relieve hunger and improve the immune system. According to Ayurvedic tradition, sweets such as natural sugar cane and honey are associated with happiness, contentment, calmness, cheerfulness, love, and satisfaction when eaten in appropriate amounts.

ASHWAGANDHA+

What is ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb that has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda, India’s traditional medical system, as an adaptogen and a general tonic. An adaptogen is any natural substance that helps the body adapt to physical and mental stressors. The term "adaptogen" comes from the herb’s ability to adapt to your individual needs and balance the body. Ashwagandha is the most commonly used and extensively researched adaptogenic herb. (1

What are the major health benefits of ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is considered to be one of the most powerful herbs in Ayurveda and has been used for thousands of years as a potent adaptogen that can help the body cope with daily stress, increase muscle mass, strength and endurance, and bring all systems of the body into balance. In Ayurveda, ashwagandha is categorized as a rasayana, which is used to promote physical and mental health, to provide defense against adverse environmental factors, and to combat the aging process.

What makes HANAH Ashwagandha+ special?

HANAH Ashwagandha+ is carefully crafted in the authentic Ayurvedic tradition, where the herb’s root is first immersed in grass-fed cow’s milk to improve the absorption while decreasing its bitterness. In Ayurveda, milk is a vehicle (anupana) that increases an herb’s bioavailability and potency. Both ashwagandha and nutrient-dense cow’s milk are considered rasayanas (rejuvenators) making this a powerful combination designed to further enhance the body’s strength and resiliency.

Where does HANAH source its ashwagandha?

HANAH’s ashwagandha is wild harvested from where it grows naturally and organically, following the seasonal growing cycles in mineral rich soil in Southern India to ensure the highest purity, quality and potency. We support local collectors, harvesters and farmers whose families have been tending the land for generations, following ancient traditional agricultural practices with deep respect for the environment and soil.

How many servings does a jar of HANAH Ashwagandha+ contain?

A jar contains 30 teaspoon size servings.

What is the recommended dosage and how should I take it?

The suggested dosage for HANAH Ashwagandha+ is 1 rounded teaspoon a day. You can blend it into your daily smoothie, tonic, tea, coffee, or the food or beverage of your choice. We recommend using a blender, hand mixer or aerolatte to better dissolve the powder into your beverage. The benefits of HANAH Ashwagandha+ are cumulative, so we recommend taking it daily for best results.

What makes HANAH Vechur Ghee so special?

The rare Vechur cow breed is native to Kerala, India, and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years as a powerful source of healing. They are the smallest cattle breed in the world and only about 300 of them remain. Our cows are completely free to graze the mineral-rich lands around them and are able to synthesize the local grasses and herbs, producing a ghee that is considered highly medicinal. Mothers are never separated from their calves, which are free to nurse at any time. Ghee made from Vechur milk in the Ayurvedic tradition is a sacred, cleansing and nourishing food with multiple health benefits—it’s highly nutritious, and is said to help improve digestion, strengthen the immune system, balance hormones, lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise good (HDL), and lubricate the intestinal tract and all tissues inside the body. In addition, Vechur milk has a beta casein A2 profile, meaning the fat molecules are much smaller than the standard beta casein A1, making it more easily assimilated.HANAH is committed to assisting the Kerala University Veterinary Department and the entire Vechur breed to ensure that these magical cows remain with us. By supporting the Vechur movement, we are attempting to ensure that there is a market for this special ghee, which may help local families and communities see the value in keeping the breed alive and thriving.

What is the shelf life of HANAH Vechur Ghee?

Ghee can be stored, unopened, in a cool, dark, place for 9 months. Once opened, a jar can be kept in a cupboard for 3 months. Beyond that, the open jar can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 year. Always keep the lid on when not in use and only use a clean, dry utensil to dip into the jar to avoid introducing unwanted moisture.

What is the best way to consume my HANAH Vechur Ghee?

Ghee's rich nutty flavor is great spread on toast or baked goods, drizzled on popcorn, in oatmeal, and for sautéing vegetables, cooking eggs or as a cooking oil. It has a high smoke point (250°C or 482°F) and won’t break down into free radicals like many other oils, making it one of the best fats to use for cooking. You can also blend a dollop of ghee into warm beverages like bone broth, coffee or tea, or find more delicious recipes on our blog.

CORDYCEPS+

Is Cordyceps+ vegan friendly?

In the wild, Cordyceps acts as a parasitic fungus on a host (the caterpillar), which means that the C. sinensis spores infect the host, mummify it, then the fungus will sprout from the host's head, grow to maturity, and release its spores, thus starting the cycle again. This is a natural process, just as nature intended. Over 99% of companies do not have access to true, wild Cordyceps sinensis and use grain to synthetically grow the mycelium in place of the natural method. Unfortunately, this method often results in a far less potent version, and can also contain a high amount of starch in the final product since the grain cannot be separated from the mycelium. The Cordyceps sinensis used in HANAH Cordyceps+ is wild-harvested directly from its natural source (the caterpillar) in the high-peak Himalayas of Bhutan, technically making it a non-vegan product.

What is cordyceps sinensis, technically? Is it a mushroom?

Cordyceps was first recorded in 620 BCE in the Tang Dynasty as a mythical or magical creature that could transform from an animal to a plant throughout the different seasons. It mysteriously grows in the winter as a parasite feeding off caterpillars and in the summer as a plant through its emerging fruiting body. Cordyceps is therefore commonly referred to as “Chinese caterpillar fungus” or “winter-worm and summer-grass.”

Cordyceps is a fungus that usually infects its insect host, the Himalayan Bat Moth, or Hepialis armoricanus Oberthur, at the larval stage. By invading the digestive tract and germinating within the insect host, the fungus gains its nutrients from feeding on non-vital organs within the host’s body. While the insect host stays buried underground throughout the entire winter, the Cordyceps mycelia slowly takes over the host’s body, mummifying the insect host. In the spring, the fungus’ fruiting body emerges out of the head of the insect host and disperses its mature spores, which infect other larva, allowing the life cycle to regenerate.

The result? An extremely potent fungus that is used to treat a variety of ailments in Bhutanese Medicine while boosting overall stamina and vitality.

What makes our Cordyceps special?

Wild Cordyceps sinensis is a very special medicinal fungus that grows off the mummified remains of the ghost moth caterpillar at altitudes above 11,500 feet. It is one of the premier (and most expensive) tonic herbs in the world and has been used for thousands of years in Eastern medicine to improve mental and physical performance, longevity, vitality and immunity.

The high-peak Himalayas of Bhutan is the source of superb high-altitude Cordyceps sinensis. Bhutan’s harvest season lasts one month and is strictly enforced to protect the collectors, the environment and the sustainability of the Cordyceps. Because of the rarity and high cost of Cordyceps sinensis, most supplement manufacturers artificially cultivate this fungus using grain or alternative techniques, which means it is not as effective as genuine naturally-grown sinensis.

We are excited to partner with the Kingdom of Bhutan to share genuine wild Cordyceps sinensis in our HANAH Cordyceps+. As with each HANAH product, the botanicals in Cordyceps+ are harvested by hand over several weeks to maximize potency and Cordyceps+ is free of all major allergens including gluten, lactose and soy. It is also non-gmo and contains nothing artificial.

Due to the very limited supply of this product, we are only able to harvest and offer this product in small artisanal batches each month.

Can you tell me more about the sustainable practices used to harvest the Cordyceps sinensis used in this product?

We partner directly with the kingdom of Bhutan to procure our Cordyceps sinensis from where they grow wild in the mineral rich soil of the Himalayas, at altitudes above 14,000 feet. Bhutan has strict sustainable harvest guidelines in place to protect the environment, the sustainability of the Cordyceps and the collectors. Only skilled local villagers from the Cordyceps growing areas are permitted to collect this special fungus. The harvesting is limited to one month a year, timed at a specific point in the growing cycle to ensure maturity and sustainability, and is overseen by local leaders and forestry services, who also keep an eye out for poachers.

Why use Cordyceps over other mushrooms which might be easier to acquire?

Cordyceps mushrooms have been used for thousands of years and are revered as one of the world’s most valuable tonics. Traditional Eastern healers have recommended Cordyceps sinensis, also called Yarsagumba or “winter worm, summer grass,” for all diseases either as a single medicine or combined with other herbs. The benefits of this rare adaptogen are well documented and researched, and include: strengthens the immune system, improves mental performance, acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory, and is known for its ability to enhance athletic performance. It is often nicknamed the “athlete’s ally.”

HANAH is always on the hunt for traditional herbal remedies that produce tangible results. We've found Cordyceps mushrooms to be incredibly efficacious.

What is the shelf life of Cordyceps+?

Cordyceps+ has a shelf life of one year as long as it is kept in a cool dry place and not exposed to direct sunlight. Our dark amber jars are intended to reduce light exposure.

Does Cordyceps+ contain any stimulants?

Even though it gives an instant energy boost, Cordyceps+ is free of any stimulants. It has 9 herbal ingredients that are naturally harvested by hand and then triple-tested for purity and potency.

Why is cordyceps sinensis called “the athlete’s ally”?

Often nicknamed ‘the athlete’s ally,’ cordyceps is known for its ability to enhance athletic performance using one of its superstar ingredients: adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is a nucleic acid and high-energy molecule which is used in every single movement that the body makes. Not only does cordyceps contain it, it also encourages the body to naturally produce more of it, enabling longer and more powerful workout sessions.

Cordyceps+ dosage

For many people, cordyceps provides a rather noticeable energy boost, so it’s a wise idea to start with a small dose and then listen to your body and increase the dosage if required. If it's your first time trying Cordyceps+, we suggest starting with 2-3 capsules and using it on an as-needed basis for focus, clarity, and stamina. For big days, it’s possible to take 4 capsules total.

Why the +?

Cordyceps+ is a combination of cordyceps sinensis and 8 powerful herbs that work together synergistically to increase the potency of the formula. The sum is truly better than its parts.
